Teams for Medical Missions

Our People

Director and Missionaries

Ray and Ruth Shive
came to TEAMS for Medical Missions in mid-2001. Prior to that they were involved in pastoral and teaching ministries in the United States, and then for 20 years in cross-cultural missionary work in South Africa and in USA home office administration.

Ray and Ruth have a vision for strong Jamaican churches – churches that reach their own people more effectively and who are also active in world missions. This means a consistent, year-round ministry with those churches through on-field missionaries and regular J-Team visits.

Ray maintains a personal blog at www.receivetheword.blogspot.com/.

TEAMS Missionaries

Anne Clay
RPh, joined TEAMS in July 2004 as Pharmaceuticals Coordinator. She had previously served more than ten years as an officer in the Surgeon General’s Office of the U.S. Public Health Service. Today, Anne works closely with the TEAMS Medical Director. She also takes care of procurement of medicines, their inventorying, packing, and dispensing. In addition, she is responsible for registration of J-Teams physicians in Jamaica and most other medical matters. In Jamaica, she serves as pharmacist and as Medical Coordinator for J-Teams. This provides continuity and qualified oversight to the medical side of the work.

Randy and Sara Hentzel have served as missionaries in Jamaica since 2002. During those years they developed a desire to "Minister TO Jamaicans THROUGH Jamaicans." In order to do this they and their family - five children, three still at home - joined TEAMS in January 2010. They summarize their ministry as one of . . .
·      Training pastors and church leaders in a variety of contexts
·      Developing Christian education and training individuals within churches
·      Modeling and training in one-on-one and group settings for discipleship and mentoring.
Randy and Sara serve on the north central coast of Jamaica, in the Mango Valley area of St. Mary Parish.

Harold and Teri Nichols have been missionaries in Jamaica since 2002, joining TEAMS in September 2004. Their ministry involves evangelism and disciple making for strengthening the Jamaican church. They live at TEAMS House, the TEAMS for Medical Missions field headquarters and ministry center. The J-Teams stay there during each ministry trip and it is used year round for Bible studies, leadership training, and various spiritual retreats. The Nichols also provide planning and program support for the various J-Teams, host them during their visits, and then work after they are gone to help preserve the fruit of those ministries. Teri also serves the Jamaican people as a Community Dental Aide.

You can keep current with the Nichols at www.Nicholsworthjamaica.typepad.com. This blog site is regularly updated with the latest family and ministry happenings.
